With the SMUD Home Performance Program, you may qualify for rebates and financing to improve your home’s energy efficiency and reduce your carbon footprint. As SMUD Participating Contractors, we’ll propose state-of-the-art technology to show you where and how to reduce your carbon footprint and save money and energy. Clarke & Rush is on your team!

SMUD Home Rebates

• Air seal the home to SLA 4.9, CPUC vintage

• Replace accessible ductwork with new R-8

• Insulate all attics to a minimum of R-38
• Deep-bury all ductwork in attics

requirements and standards of the Seal and
Insulate measure above

Heating and Cooling – Heat Pump Conversion (Gas-to-Electric)

• Replace an existing gas furnace and air
conditioning with an electric heat pump
• Variable capacity2
• 15 SEER2 minimum for 2-stage packaged
heat pump systems only
• Seal the ductwork
• 10% or less for existing ducts
• 5% or less for new ducts

$3,500 (variable capacity)
$2,000 (2-stage Packaged Systems only) per system
Heating and Cooling – Heat Pump Replacement (Electric-to-Electric)

• Replace an existing heat pump with a variable
capacity, high-efficiency heat pump2
• Meet all the other requirements and standards of
the Heating and Cooling Package – Heat Pump
conversion measure above

$750 (variable capacity) per system
Heat Pump Water Heater Conversion (Gas-to-Electric)

• Replace an existing gas water heater with a
HPWH from SMUD’s approved list
• SMUD’s list is based on NEEA Tier III and
IV efficiency ratings for climate zone 12
• Refer to SMUD’s list for the most current
qualifying models
• Installation must include a thermostatic mixing
valve on the hot water supply to the house

$2,000 (50-gallon+) $2,500 (65-gallon+) $3,000 (80-gallon+) per water heater
Heat Pump Water Heater Upgrade (Electric-to-Electric)

• Replace an existing electric resistance water
heater with a HPWH from SMUD’s approved list
• Meet all the other requirements and standards of
the HPWH gas-to-electric measure above

$500 (all sizes) per water heater
Go Electric Bonus

• Must be used in combination with one or both of

the following upgrades:
1. Heating and Cooling Package –
Heat Pump Conversion
(Gas-to-Electric)
2. Heat Pump Water Heater Conversion
(Gas-to-Electric)
• Add new circuits to an existing panel that
terminate at the endpoint of use to make the
home 100% electric ready. (All circuits must be
present to receive any rebate)
• Electric vehicle (mandatory)
• Clothes dryer (mandatory if not existing)
• Range or Oven/Cooktop (mandatory if not
existing)
• Add a new sub-panel if more panel space is
needed to electrify the home

$500 per new circuit, $500 subpanel ($2,000 circuit- only project maximum $2,500 project maximum if optional subpanel is included with circuits) (Circuits installed for gas-to-electric conversion measures included in the project will not receive a rebate)
Go Electric Bonus with Panel Upgrade

• Must be used in combination with one or both of
the following upgrades:
1. Heating and Cooling Package –
Heat Pump Conversion
(Gas-to-Electric)
2. Heat Pump Water Heater Conversion
(Gas-to-Electric)
• Install a new 200-amp panel
• Add new electric vehicle circuit to the panel that
terminate at the endpoint of use
• Add circuits to the panel for future cooking and
dryer conversions to make the home 100%
electric ready. (All circuits must be present to
receive the rebate)

$2,500 per home
SMUD Charge@Home EV Circuit

• Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) or Plug-in Hybrid
Electric Vehicles (PHEV) qualify
• The vehicle must be DMV registered at customer
residence with an active meter receiving SMUD
electric service.
• Dwelling must have an existing panel with room
for the new circuit.
• Customer agrees to sign up for EV rate credit if
on eligible rate.
• Add a new electric vehicle 240V, max 40-amp
charging circuit to the panel that terminates at the
endpoint of use.

$500 per home, per vehicle ($1,000 per project maximum for SMUD Charge@Home measures)
SMUD Charge@Home EV Charger

• Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) or Plug-in Hybrid
Electric Vehicles (PHEV) qualify
• The vehicle must be DMV registered at customer
residence with an active meter receiving SMUD
electric service.
• Customer agrees to sign up for EV rate credit if
on eligible rate.
• Level 2, EVSE Equipment (up to 32A maximum)
listed in the program’s Qualifying Product List

$500 per home, per vehicle ($1,000 per project maximum for SMUD Charge@Home measures)
SMUD Charge@Home Power Sharing Device

• Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) or Plug-in Hybrid
Electric Vehicles (PHEV) qualify
• The vehicle must be DMV registered at customer
residence with an active meter receiving SMUD
electric service.
• Customer agrees to sign up for EV rate credit if
on eligible rate.
• Installation on an existing 240V outlet.

$300 per home, per vehicle ($1,000 per project maximum for SMUD Charge@Home measures)
